Price Cuts Across The Board! LONGi Accelerates The Intensification

Last week, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) launched an anti-dumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD) investigation into solar cells imported from Southeast Asia, regardless of whether these cells are assembled into solar panels.

This investigation is based on a petition filed in April by the American Solar Manufacturers Against Chinese Circumvention (A-SMACC), a group comprising several U.S.-based solar manufacturers. Members of this coalition include First Solar, Mission Solar, and Qcells.

They argue that certain Chinese solar manufacturers are shifting parts of their supply chains to Southeast Asia for so-called "minor processing" to evade U.S. anti-dumping duties on Chinese imports. The resulting low prices make it impossible for domestic producers to compete, hindering the development of U.S. manufacturing.

However, developers NextEra Energy, module manufacturer Canadian Solar, and LONGi’s subsidiary Illuminate USA have presented strong counterarguments.

Canadian Solar notably pointed out that Qcells is "primarily a foreign manufacturer" and an "importer of the subject merchandise into the U.S.," hence it cannot represent the U.S. domestic industry. Canadian Solar and Illuminate also emphasized that Qcells does not manufacture cells and must import products regardless of the country of origin, rendering its claims irrelevant.

According to ITA data, the current price of solar cells in the U.S. is 2-3 times higher than the price of imports from Southeast Asia. Additionally, the U.S. Clean Energy Association (CEA) stated that the latest AD/CVD case could cause a 'bottleneck' in cell supply for the U.S.

In response, LONGi once again adjusted the prices of its entire product range, resulting in a near-comprehensive reduction. Although the timing is delicate, LONGi has not explicitly stated that this move is related to the AD/CVD case.

This round of price cuts includes some of LONGi's most popular solar panel products, such as the 585W and 435W models. The reference prices are as follows:
